Request a Liability Insurance Hearing
You can request a Liability Insurance Hearing quickly and easily using myNCDMV. After submitting your payment, the NCDMV will review your request, and a Hearing Officer will contact you. Follow the steps below to get started:
1. Sign in to myNCDMV or continue as a guest. Then select Request Liability Insurance Hearing.
2. Next, select Liability Insurance Hearing or Motor Carrier Hearing and search for the vehicle:
- For a Liability Insurance Hearing enter the Plate Number, Control Number, and/or the last 5 digits of the Title Number
- For a Motor Carrier Hearing enter the Motor Carrier Account and Control Number
3. Confirm the address(es) and vehicle details by clicking the blue arrow to the right of your license plate number. If everything looks correct, select Yes, it does.
4. Select the vehicle(s) you would like to include in the hearing. If multiple vehicles, select the appropriate vehicles and click Submit. Then select Pay total amount due.
5. Enter your contact information for the hearing and payment and review the payment summary. If everything looks correct select Add to cart.
6. To request an additional hearing or make another purchase on myNCDMV click Complete another service, or to check out select Go to cart and then click Checkout.
- Hearing Request payments must be completed using a credit/debit card, bank payments are not accepted
- If you already have a card saved to your profile, it will automatically appear at Checkout. To change or add a new payment method, click on the payment method and follow the prompts.
7. Review your checkout summary then click Pay $--.-- to finalize and submit your order.
- A receipt will be emailed to you once the payment has been submitted successfully. If you completed the payment while logged in, a receipt will also be stored in your profile (see Where can I find my receipt? for more information).
