No, you cannot change your residential address during an online renewal. You can update your residential address online by requesting a duplicate credential (see Can I order a duplicate credential online?).
Does my mailing address have to be the same as my residential address?
No, you may use a different mailing address during the renewal process or when ordering a duplicate on myNCDMV.
Can I update my mailing address during an online renewal?
Yes, you can update your mailing address during an online renewal or when ordering a duplicate license or ID. To update your mailing address once it is displayed:
- Select, No use a different address.
- Enter your new mailing address in fields provided.
- Click Submit.
The mailing address I entered is not recognized — what should I do?
If your address cannot be verified, you must visit a DMV office to complete your renewal or duplicate license or ID order.
Does my mailing address have to be in North Carolina?
If you're updating your mailing address online through myNCDMV, you must input a North Carolina address. If you need to change your mailing address to one outside of North Carolina or outside of the United States, please contact the NCDMV directly at 919.715.7000. You can also make that change in person at an NC DMV office.
