Upgrade a North Carolina Full Provisional License on myNCDMV
Ready to upgrade your Full Provisional License to an Original Class C license? Skip the line and expedite the process on myNCDMV. After logging in (see Create a Profile on myNCDMV), follow the steps below to get started:
1. Select Driver Services from the "Services" drop down menu and click Upgrade Full Provisional License
2. Review the Conditions and click I meet these conditions
3. Review the Eligibility Criteria and click I confirm these statements are true
4. Enter your Driver License Number, Date of Birth and Last 4 of Social Security Number then click Search
5. Select your preference for Selective Service

6. Click Yes, it is to confirm the residential address on your license is still accurate or select No, I moved to update your address
7. Confirm your mailing address by clicking Yes. Select No, I need to update it to change your address.
Note: Address changes may require identity verification (see Identity Verification with MyNCID)
8. Enter your phone number and click Submit
9. Select your preferences for Organ Donation and Voter Registration
10. Review your Credential Details and click Looks good to proceed or select No, I need to change something to make an update
11. Click I understand to review your Payment Summary
12. Select I understand, add it to my cart then click Checkout on the cart notification
13. Select a payment method and click the blue Pay $--.-- button to complete your payment
After your payment is completed, an email confirmation and Temporary Driving Certificate will be sent. Orders are processed and mailed by the NCDMV and generally arrive in 20 business days.
